We are both native Coloradans who started our 19 years in Vermont by founding and operating Half Pint Farm at the Intervale. After selling our farm in 2019, we looked for other ways to feed our community, and Chile Colorado was born. We both grew up eating the quintessential foods of the American Southwest - smothered burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas, chiles rellenos, sopaipillas, classic puffy flour tortillas and debating the ever-present question, green or red? We are thrilled that we get to share our soul food with each of you from our certified home catering kitchen!

Owner Ahmed Omar calls Kismayo Kitchen "multicultural cuisine," but it has a distinctive flavor of his native Somalia. While Kismayo (named for a city in Somalia) serves vegan food to the all-American Philly cheesesteak sandwich, the menu also highlights cuisine from Omar's East African homeland. Omar opened his 23-seat restaurant in 2018 and has been surprising and delighting customers with his cuisine ever since.

Born and raised Jamaican, Julian Johnson, “Chef Jewelz” began cooking at the young age of nine. Watching her grandmother and learning, by her side, traditional and family recipes, Jewelz fell in love with cooking and began to master the art of traditional Jamaican Food. Jewelz continued to work in Jamaica cooking and serving in many restaurants, improving her skills and moving into high end, successful kitchens. She migrated to the United States of America nearly ten years ago and settled in our beautiful state of Vermont; bringing with her proudly, her roots and traditions in food, and creating dishes which will send you into transports of epicurean delight. Closely connected to her community, Jewelz began slowly creating a buzz with her culinary skills at local farmers markets and was an instant success that transformed into a food truck.

My name is Alganesh Michael. I live in South Burlington with my husband and two daughters. I’m originally from Eritrea, located in the Horn of Africa. I’m a former nurse turned homemaker for the last 16 years. Although not a chef by trade, I love to cook and entertain my family and friends. I have been working in collaboration with many local restaurants, in Chittenden & Addison County, schools and communities for over 6 years. I host Ethiopian & Eritrean cuisine and have popularized this ethnic cooking in the Lake Champlain region of Vermont. Among other things, I teach cooking classes, host parties for team building for educators, book club friends, birthday and retirement parties. Also, I cater private parties of any size. Post COVID I started offering weekly takeout dinner from a local store in South Burlington, The Mill Market & Deli. I love to teach simple techniques to prepare ethnic food that is rich in flavor. Ethiopian & Eritrean cooking relies on a diverse range of herbs and roots to develop characteristics quintessential to the cuisine. I pride myself on cooking & serving food in a traditional way with authentic spices and serve on a large, family-style platter atop of Injera. Injera is unique staple food to both countries and also serves as an edible utensil. It’s best known for spongy sourdough flatbread; one can’t really have an authentic feast without it.
