Not my 4th of July is an experience told through song, dance, spoken word and monologue. The play captures Fredrick Douglas, the man and the message. Set to a soundtrack that is both modern and historical, we follow a young girl who is called to give a speech after a tragic event. Wondering if her voice matters she is apprehensive and looks to the legacy of Douglas to give her strength to use her voice to invoke change. With a multi generation cast from 13 - 66, the foundation of one of Douglas' most famous speeches, and set to the backdrop of the Black Lives Matter Movement - Not My 4th of July is sure to inspire, enlighten, and educate.
